April 2021 Newsletter

Hello Friend!

It’s hard to believe that nearly two months have passed since my last communication. Where did the time go?? April’s newsletter is packed with announcements. I’ve been really excited to send this one out. So let’s dive right in.

-----------------

Website: My website got a HUGE makeover at the beginning of April. Like…huge. And I’m in love with how it turned out. So if you haven’t visited it for a few weeks or months, go check it out. I officially have my own “marketing image” and slogan: “Slayer of villains and protector of dragons.” I love that!

Talon the Black: Talon officially got its own trailer!! I know this happened earlier this year, but I never got a chance to post it and share it with you guys. The trailer is now officially posted on Talon the Black’s dedicated book page. You can check it out here.

Blog: As always, my blog is a great way to flip through the books I’ve recently read. I review each book I read, and I’m always as honest as possible. Looking for a new read? Check out some of my recommendations here! I’ve read some good ones in the past couple of months. I’ll make sure to highlight my top favorites at the bottom of this email.

Besides that, I posted a new blog in March and April.

The first is a DIY on spraying book edges. What are sprayed edges, you might ask? Head over and check it out here.

The second is on tropes. What is a trope, you might wonder? This one is geared towards new writers who are looking to add a writing tool to the ever-growing toolbox. You can head over to read all about tropes here.

Writing: I’m still working hard editing Verath the Red. My weekends are consumed with edits. I completed content edits a few weeks ago. Now I’ve moved on to line edits. Once that’s finished it will be copy edits. At that point, it goes out to a dedicated crew for further edits.

I’m also working hard on the outline for Koldis the Green. I’ve got the rough outline finished. Yipee!!! I finally know what Claire’s entire book four journey will be. What a relief! But there are still some other characters (like our star, Koldis) who need more details. I’ll be working on that in the coming weeks. I hope to start writing book four when I get back from my trip to California.

Verath the Red Publication: We’ve got an official date, y’all!!!! Verath will be out in the world September 7th 2021. It will be available in hardcover, paperback, and ebook. It even has its own dedicated books page on my website. You can find that here. I’m in love with the marketing image. It turned out beautifully. You like??

Koldis the Green: The big cover reveal is here!! Scroll to the bottom of the email to check it out. This will be the “working cover” for KtG so it might go through some minor changes when the time comes to publish. My plan is to start posting chapters for Koldis the Green mid-July. I’ve set a post date of Friday July 16th. And I’m pretty nervous about that since I haven’t started writing…yet. But I think it will be good to have a goal I work towards. As with all my Wattapd books, chapter updates will occur weekly. One chapter per week every Friday.

Social Media: I’m still very active as a “bookstagrammer” on Instagram. I’m absolutely loving this community. It’s where I go to find out about all the new books coming out, to talk about books, and make friends with others who love books just as much as me. The big hype lately is Shadow and Bone. We can’t stop talking about how excited we are with this series and the Netflix show that just released.

Personal life: Things are really looking up for me. My husband finally got a permanent job after getting laid off from Covid last year. Plus, I’ve got a trip to California scheduled at the end of this month. My first time traveling in ages! You’ll find me on the sandy beaches of California’s coast, toes in the water, drink in one hand, good book in the other.

I’ll make sure to document some of the excitement of my trip on my Instagram Stories. So make sure you follow me on Insta if you want to see more from my trip. I’m most excited to see my family and my best friend. Other than that, things are going great. I’m keeping really busy with work and my author business, and looking forward to some of the big things coming.

Thank you for choosing to be a subscriber, and for taking this journey with me. I know it’s been a long wait for the fourth Dragonwall book to release on Wattpad, and I appreciate your patience.

All my best,

Melissa
