Dark Harmony (Bargainer 3)

[A quick note: I’m so sad this series has come to an end. I love my editions. Such a good investment. Overall, this series has everything I want out of a romance fantasy. Magic, wicked fairies, good plot, spice, you name it! Definitely deserves the hype.]

“𝐇𝐞’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐧. 𝐇𝐞’𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥, 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲. 𝐌𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝. 𝐌𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞.”—Laura Thalassa

Steamy romance with wicked fairies and an awful Thief of Souls who haunts nightmares? What more could you want?! The third and final installment of The Bargainer Series finds Callie and Des pitted against the ultimate villain.

I really enjoyed this one, but perhaps not quite as much as the second. Getting to see Callie come into her Siren powers was AWESOME. She had many victorious moments. I was HERE FOR EVERY SINGLE ONE. The build up to the finale took the entire span of the books, which I enjoyed. It wasn’t the kind of series where there’s a different monster to battle in each book. I loved the final sequence of events against the Thief of Souls, but there were a couple of things that felt a little “too easy” about Callie’s victory. A little…dare I say, too coincidental? Regardless, my heart was pumping; the pages were flying beneath my fingertips.

Who doesn’t love a heroine who saves the day? The reverse damsel-in-distress was EVERYTHING. Getting to see Callie save the all-powerful Desmond was *perfection* and I enjoyed it so much. Their romance. SO FREAKING SWOONY. The way they grow together, confronted challenges, built each other up, the emotions I felt during the hard parts: YESSSS. Where can I find my own Desmond?!? I need a night king bargainer. RIGHT NOW.

Okay, as far as plot and overall ideas, I was caught off guard a few times! Parts of the ending did take me by surprise. The twist with the Thief of Souls, wasn’t expecting that. Made it so much better! Yay!

I also want to take a moment to say how much I FREAKING LOVE Temper + Callie, because those two are a fantastic friends paring. Their personalities balance each other out. Temper might be one of my favorite side characters of all time. She constantly had me LOL’ing with the things she’d say and her candid, take-no-shit personality. She’s the friend EVERYONE NEEDS!

*Sigh* I am sad this is coming to an end. I did NOT read the prequel side story that was written after the second book. This story covers Desmond’s early life. I considered it. But…IDK. Maybe I will come back to it when I’m missing the series? Overall though, this book was great. The whole series is close to a five-star-read for me.
