(5/5⭐️) “For where all love is, the speaking is unnecessary. It is all. It is undying. And it is enough.”
This is one of those books that has been sitting on my TBR list for ages. I forbid myself from watching the show, so that I would read the book (can’t wait to dive in to the first season now). I think the real reason I did not read Outlander immediately is because I knew I would hopelessly fall down a rabbit hole of obsession. And I have.
Outlander is a story of love, struggle, pain, and triumph. It is a book to be devoured, and that is exactly what I did. I laughed, cried, and often found myself literally shouting at the characters. Sometimes I had to set the book down and close my eyes, just to let the words soak in.
Diana Gabaldon’s attention to detail and writing style bewitched me in the first few pages of the book. The historical accuracy to which she portrayed life in the Scottish Highlands was astonishing; I’m no expert, but it felt damn real to me. I admire the way Gabaldon was able to convince me that I was a bystander, watching the story unfold before my very eyes.
Even after finishing the story, my mind keeps going back to the characters and the plot. A good story is one that sticks with you, and this one will.
