Demigods of San Francisco (Books 1-6)

[A quick note: I was sick and wanted something low key enjoyable and this was IT. It was the perfect read to devour. With six books, I couldn’t help rushing from one to the next. I put my other reads on hold just to read this one. It’s the first time I’ve totally abandoned my TBR.]

“𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲. 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.”—K.F. Breene

The Demigods of San Francisco is the world as we know it, except not. Powerful Demigods rule, and cities are split into magical and non-magical zones. It’s a world of politics and intrigue between the powerful, a constant show of flexing. The Demigod with the best arsenal of magical people have the best chance for survival. It’s a world Alexis price has spent her entire life hiding from. She slipped between the cracks, eking out an existence caring for two teenage wards rescued off the streets. But when Demigod Kieran nearly runs her over in his fancy Ferrari, everything changes. Alexis isn’t what she seams. There’s a unique power lurking beneath her skin. She might just be the biggest thing the magical world has ever seen.

This series was...wow! Unputdownable. It has the best “found-family” I have ever encountered, and that’s saying something. Kieran’s “Six” gives Rhysand’s inner circle a run for its money. The smut was steamy and delicious. The entire first book is a game of cat-and-mouse, introducing us to an arsenal of great characters. I thought I would be annoyed to have teenage characters present in an adult book, but their snark added layers of greatness to the dialogue. Especially Daisy and Mordi’s Lord of the Rings jokes. The dialogue was some of the best I’ve ever read. It felt real and had me grinning. Most of all, these books just left my heart so...full. If you want a super strong, super badass female who comes into her own with powerful magic, you will adore Alexis Price.

This was, overall, a 5⭐️ series for me. It has quickly become one of my favorite series of all time, despite the cheesy covers. Below, I’m outlining each book with a bit of what I liked about it:

Sin & Chocolate (4/5⭐️)

Alexis has worked hard to fall between the cracks of magical and non-magical society. Mostly to protect her teenage wards. That changes when a dangerous run-in with Kieran, the son of San Francisco’s notoriously heartless Demigod, puts her front and center on everyone’s radar.

💫Enemies-to-lovers

💫snarky teenage wards with undying loyalty

💫Unique magic that is just so damn cool!

I loved so much about this book. It was literally un-put-downable. Mostly the cat-and-mouse aspect of Alexis and Kieran. There was so much sexual tension between these two, I couldn’t stop flipping pages. The dialogue and character personalities stood out the most and truly impressed me.

Sin & Magic (4/5⭐️)

After agreeing to work for Demigod Kieran, a dangerously sexy powerhouse intent on destroying his father, Alexis must walk a fine line. She cannot deny how she feels towards him, but she also has no intention on getting wrapped up in his warpath. Or does she?

💫Found family

💫Learning to control a powerful magic

💫Steamy romance.

This one is even better than the first. Moreover, the plot starts to thicken. The stakes get higher. And the relationship, banter, dialogue, and personalities of each character pack a powerful punch. Alexis has a lot to grapple with in this installment. But she handles everything with strength and determination. She’s a character who is easy to love. And her wards are too.

Sin & Salvation (5/5⭐️)

It’s finally time to take on the Demigod of San Francisco. But it won’t be easy. Kieran’s only shot is his secret weapon: Alexis and her two teenage wards. After strenuous training from Kieran’s six, this power team might just be ready to face the impossible.

This was my favorite installment so far. The found family trope reaches an all time high. It’s impossible not to fall in love with each of the characters. There are so many good laughs. So much great dialogue. And the way Alexis masters her Spirit Walker magic is the best bad-assery a person could hope for. The steam level cranks up a notch in this one. And my sinful heart delighted in every minute of it.

Sin & Spirit (5/5⭐️)

With San Francisco’s Demigod defeated, his son has taken up temporary rulership of the city. Kieran has no intention of making this position permanent. But he’s got bigger fish to fry. Alexis is finally exposed. Her magic marks her as unique, and nearly every other powerful Demigod out there is either intent on killing her or claiming her as a weapon.

This was the most heartbreaking installment. While it had everything I continue to love about the series, like steamy romance, found family, and great dialogue, it also has loss. And this loss was hard to bear after falling in love with the characters. But it felt necessary to add to the realism of the story. Alexis continues to strengthen her ability. The plot continues to deepen, and the characters continue to grow and evolve. It’s definitely turning into a 5-star series for me. This was the book that stayed on my mind the most. Every time I set it down, I couldn’t stop thinking about this story!

Sin & Lightening (4.5/5⭐️)

To strengthen Demigod Kieran’s position and ensure his strength in the upcoming magical summit, he needs to build his team. This means confronting some big players including a couple level five magical people. But these people don’t want to be found, and Alexis might be the only one who can get through to them.

While there was less romantic steaminess in these one, the found family aspects of the inner circle captured my heart once again. I loved that Alexis exhibited her ability to hold everyone together as a family. I also loved how she continues to get stronger magically. The dialogue in this installment continued to impress me. Especially all the “Jerry” jokes. The showdown at the very end might have been one of the most heart-pounding action sequences in the whole series. I cheered, I cringed, I heard my breath. But it was the ending that took me by surprise and left me hopeful for the future to come. I am both eager and afraid to read the last book. I don’t want this series to end. Ever!

Sin & Surrender (5/5⭐️)

The time for the magical summit has arrived. The ultimate showdown. This is where magical alliances are made and broken. Where demigods fight for power. And this year’s summit will be one to remember. Kieren and Lexi are fully prepared. They’re arriving with an arsenal of magical people, a team unlike any other out there. And they plant to win.

Wow, what a great finale to this wonderful series! My favorite aspect was the politics of the summit and the gladiator type environment created between the demigod teams. The fight-it-out mentality to display strength carried a brutal undertone that really upped the stakes. There’s so much to love in this book. The continued romance between our two main players. The awesome found family between the inner circle. And watching Daisy kick ass! I devoured this one. Couldn’t put it down. By the end, I was cheering.
